E & O Trading Company

The Dining Detectives were at it again. Staying after work in San Francisco to enjoy some fun and fine dining. The City has so much to offer and we were ready for a new experience. We opted for the Union Square area mostly known for its exclusive shops that draw visitors from around the world, even from Petaluma! We chose The E & O Trading Company on Sutter Street at first because of the décor which recreates a trading warehouse in South East Asia at the turn of the Twentieth Century with an open kitchen and a 35 foot Dragon Bar on the first floor blending Asian and European feel and decor. We soon found that the Cuisine rivaled the décor.
We were warmly greeted and escorted to our table overlooking the restaurant and bar area up on the mezzanine level. Our server Jorge, was immediately at our table to explain our choices for food and beverages.

We started off with some specialty cocktails and then moved on to home brewed ale and soda samplers. Frank Commariday, the Masterbrewer, makes the ales and sodas come to life in stainless steel right on the premises.

Specialty Drinks

Pomegranate Margarita- An exotic & delightful twist on the original, made with Premium Tequilas & Cointreau, served with a salt rim.

Blue Sea Margarita- Not your typical margarita, but seaworthy folk will enjoy its cool blue & calming effects.

Singapore Sling-A blend of Gin, fresh lime, a touch of Papaya & a dash of cane sugar, topped off with cherry brandy improves on the classic from The Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

E & O Home Brewed Ales
E & O Home Brewed Sodas

We enjoyed Samplers of both the home brewed Ales and Sodas. Each included 1 Imperial Pint total. The ales from Masterbrewer, Frank Commariday were all tasty and here are two that we particularly appreciated;
King’s Stout- Jet Black and Full Bodied, thick and creamy. A True Imperial Stout.
India Pale Ale- A classic full- bodied amber colored light Ale with a distinctive Aroma of imported East Kent Golding full- flower hops.

The Sodas were all great but we particularly favored;
Papaya, Passion Fruit and Cream Soda.

So much for the Drinks…. Now for some food that we recommend.

Indian Style Flat Breads

E & O Trading Company is a fun and festive exotic restaurant that lends itself to civilized dining. The South Asian cuisine allowed us to experience flavors that we’d never had before. The preparation from lands such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, East India and Thailand all accomplished with fresh local ingredients all under one roof was fantastic. You’ll have a good time and enjoy the atmosphere and the exotic cuisine. This is a "good time" restaurant!
